We give Rhapsody two thumbs Up
The newest and most exciting off broadway show Rhapsody is opening up shortly. Fans of the music of Queen will enjoy this story of a poor boy from a poor family who wants to break free from his life. This story based off of the music of Queen showcases Freddie Mercury and Brian May's surpreme story telling ability. The show's telling of Queen's music is true to the bands original intention of their songs. Brian May applauds the show saying that his only problem with the show is that Freddie is no longer around to see it.
The premier of Rhapsody is set at the Royal Opera House in London on September 5th, 2013. Then it will be moving out of the big shows and into smaller off broadway theatres before perhaps moving on up to Broadway. We all hope that is on the horizon. The show is a little unfriendly to the young ones but if you choose to bring them anyway they will not be stopped at the door. The show isn't dirty necessarily it just deals with mature themes.
The stars haven't been chosen yet and the playwriters have only filled minor roles. When asked about why they are taking so long the playwriters, Evan Hayne and Nick Colling, stated, "Freddie Mercury had such a brilliant stage persona, finding someone who can play a character based off him will be difficult but when we find the right person we'll know it."
